The Senior Systems Administrator provides support for various off the shelf, customized applications and enterprise wide systems. Provides leadership and mentoring for less experienced technical staff and works to resolve complex support requests, which sent to the SDA technical support center. The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible to design, implement, maintain and troubleshoot all systems on the LAN/WAN, which contributes to the overall objective of the Authority with a focus on network infrastructure and intrusion protection systems. Senior systems personnel ensure that all systems are operational, business ready and able to perform their work in an effective and efficient manner. Residency in New Jersey is a requirement for consideration for this position.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdminister and manage a network server environment comprised of both a physical and a virtual architecture running Microsoft and VMWare operating systems. Environment includes file sharing, email, archival and backup systems. Administer and manage a network infrastructure environment comprised of hubs, switches, routers, intrusion protection systems, internet security systems and end-point virus protection systems. Consult with management and users to discuss system capacity, equipment acquisitions and security requirements. Work with users, managers, and executives to identify and document system(s), enterprise applications or functional requirements. Recommend, design and implement new systems on the network by conducting research on new products and proper implementation to insure effectiveness and efficiency of the product and the installation.Troubleshoot systems when experiencing issues by identifying problem areas, finding and implementing a resolution preventing it from occurring in the future.Stay abreast of latest malware, cyber threats and product updates to ensure that all systems remain as secure and up to date as practical. Results measured by the overall system up time, the efficiency of system updates and the impact on the network and user community.Adhere to change management processes and procedures including logging all changes made to systems, the network and/or infrastructure utilizing existing tracking systems. Results measured by the creation of an auditable log referencing all system changes.Assist with technology related procurement process including gathering price quotations and making recommendations based upon the requirements of each project and/or purchase.
